Howdy all....
I'm the one who was having a difficulty changing the spark plug and the battery not too long ago. Well, the other day I started my 86 savage, or uhhh, attempted to. I put the cut off switch to run, then pushed the start switch... Normally, it will go "eh eh eh eh eh eh eh vrrooooommmm," right? Well, this time it went "eh POP"
I was stunned, the lights and EVERYTHING just went blank. I thought maybe it was an engine problem. But if so, the lights wouldn't have gone out. So, I let it sit for two days out of laziness. I checked both days to see if the lights would come on... nothing. I had a friend come look at it, and as I was explaining what was happening, I put the key in and the lights came on!! I proceeded to start the bike. This time, it didn't even go "eh eh eh" at all. It just went "ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" and smoke was seen coming from the battery. Humphhh.. the battery is BRAND NEW!! Only an hour on the battery. Anyways, so I took the battery out, took it in the kitchen, wiped it down with a paper towel, the connections, and hten put it back in and it just started right up, no problem whatsoever. So I rode it around all day, I'm a college student, so a lot of stops. Well, at 2am, I proceeded to head home. I started it and it did that POP thing again. Now, do I just wipe the stupid battery down again and do the whole thing over again? Or can someone give me a reason why it's doing this, or possibly a more conclusive cure? PLEAAASSEEE help.
Lastly, I'm looking to ditch my bike for either a crotch rocket or a cheap car. If anyone has a crotchrocket in the one to two thousand dollar range, I'd love to hear from ya. If you have a car for sale for a grand, I would also like to hear from you. It's an 86 savage with 5,000 miles. I try to take good care of it, but stupid little things like the one mentioned above have mad me decide I can't deal with it anymore. Not to mention I'm in Oregon and it's raining everyday and I'm tired of getting drenched before class.
